Home Away From Home and other Information

Shalom Friends.  As we travel the land of Israel, we will be traveling by coach bus with water being continuously available.  There is no toilet on the bus but there will be sufficient stops along the way.

All pilgrims will need to be in Tel Aviv by Monday, February 26th.  The bus will pull out from the hotel by 8:15 the next morning to head north.  We will visit Jaffa, Caesarea, Mt. Carmel, Megiddo, Nazareth and end our day by the Sea of Galilee.

We will spend three nights in the area of the Sea of Galilee, visiting the places where Jesus did a majority of  His three years of ministry (Capernaum, Korazim, Magdala, Kursi, Tabgha).  We will also visit sites on the Golan Heights, along the Lebanese, Syrian and Jordanian borders, and do baptisms in the Jordan River.  A boat ride on the Sea of Galilee and some other special treats are included.

We will then travel south along the Jordan River valley to visit Beit Shean, where Saul’s body was hung on the wall after his defeat on Mt. Gilboa.  We will also stop at the location where Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist.  We will spend two nights along the Dead Sea.  En Gedi (where David hid from Saul), Masada, Qumran (where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found) and possibly Beersheba are all on our itinerary. You will also have the chance to float in the Dead Sea and have a spa treatment.

Your Invitation to Walk Where Jesus Walked

Shalom.  Many have expressed that one of their bucket list items is to walk where Jesus walked.  Here is your personal invitation to join Pam and me to do just that.  We plan on traveling to Israel once again from February 25th to March 8th, 2024. This is a Sunday to a Friday, requiring two weeks vacation for those who work Monday to Friday.  It is a thirteen day trip with eleven of those days in the land of Israel.

I call the land of Israel the fifth Gospel, filling in the reasons God chose to place His name there, and to give the land as a home for His chosen people.  It is the future home of all believers once Christ returns.  As we go through the land we will be able to picture Jesus feeding the 5000 or weeping over Jerusalem.  We will experience His presence in simple yet profound ways.  We will understand what Joseph and Mary felt and experienced as they made their way on the long journey to Bethlehem and see the beauty of the desert blooming as Isaiah and others foretold.  We will hike to the springs of En Gedi where David hid from Saul and follow the path of Jesus’ suffering on the cross through the streets of Jerusalem.  It is a journey like no other.

We held an initial question and answer meeting on Sunday, March 26, 2023 at 12:30 pm in the Living Room at Eastern Hills Church.  If you live out of the area or have friends or family out of the area who may want to join us and they want to sit in on this meeting, email me at patrickjones@me.com and I will send you a Zoom link recording of that meeting.

If you are interested and were  not able to attend, email me and I will be happy to speak to you personally.  You will never read your Bible the same after you walk where Jesus walk.
